I think in wedding since it doesn't have much time for composition, better to use zoom. but 50 1.4 is good choice. you may need to use a winder. for film yeah i will use 400 too...
i think for low night 50 1.4+400 can be a good combination without using flash.
by the way I use DNP 400 before and it look a lot better than i think.

ernest ~ it is DAMN DARK !!! i need to use 400 as 1600 (boost 2 levels)
pics look ok, but 400 dev 400 is much better than 400 dev 1600 @.@
