seagull 4b repairing record

patient: seagull 4b

symptom: eye (shutter) doesn't close after launched

possible treatment: WD40 to the shutter's gears

operation starts
----------------------------------------------------------

take off the handle bar

take off the back cover

peel off the skin, here's the hidden screws for the side covers

1 more screw inside

got it opened

take off the film advancer

open the side cover

need a special screw driver for this kind of screw. but I use 2 separate ones and apply force at the same time to do the job

that's how it looks inside

take everything unscrewed, beware of the spring bouncing out

after take off this metal bar on both sides...

... then the lens module can be taken off

there's no screw inside

so it should be somewhere under the skin

unscrew

also unscrew this ring

the naked lens module

take off the malfunctioning lens set

take the lens off by twisting it.
then twist the copper ring to expose the gears

mask the lens/shutter with tapes, and apply WD40 to the gears

start to put things back

further unscrew the lens then you can separate it, clean it up by the way ~

put the lens on, see, it works

also clean the upper lens

clean and clear

open the viewer and clean the mirror and glasses too

take the whole part off

blow and brush inside with appropriate tools

use tapes to stick the hardened dust plague off the edges

everything's back, done ! (except the skin is awaiting to be stuck back on)
